Where the experience comes from: Principal, Alicia Rose, started her career in public relations and social media before becoming a talent manager for industry-leading global digital influencers’ (bloggers/YouTubers/TikTokers, athletes, actors, stylists, etc. that have an exceptional presence in the digital space) where she managed their deals/negations + brand partnerships before transitioning to a more business affairs track in entertainment + literature, until eventually going to an ABA accredited law school, rising to the top of her class, and becoming a barred attorney for the State of California.
During her 15+ years career in advertising/marketing + business affairs, Alicia tracked the negotiating, drafting, editing and execution of over 9,500 deal agreements with budgets totaling well-beyond seven figures in sales annually, including sponsored digital content integration/product endorsements, fashion + beauty licensing deals, fan meet-and-greets/appearances, creative original production projects (photo/video shoots/social media), television + web series, etc., across a global market, specializing in high/low + plus-size fashion, beauty, lifestyle, mommy, home, fitness, and hospitality brands. She consulted on talents’ blog platforms, affiliate + banner advertising networks, database memberships, and worked closely with various digital agencies to ensure continued traffic growth + brand elevation for multiple agencies’ rosters. Beyond the course of a decade, Alicia consistently engaged + maintained relationships with industry leaders for multiple agencies’ talent rosters (including the notable public relations + marketing agencies that disperse millions of dollars on social influencer collaborations) by entertaining clients, attending + creating industry events, including keynote speaking on panels. She remains highly accredited as an influencer relations veteran, and was often called upon + invited to speak about her work, where she oversaw multiple project management teams that sold + facilitated campaigns in both New York + Los Angeles offices, and she was the lead for hiring and mentoring junior talent managers to foster multiple agencies’ teams expansion/growth. Alicia has also instituted industry standards, benchmarks, and regulations regarding Name, Image, and Licensing (NIL) deals that transcend multiple agencies, globally including the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) expansions. Alicia eventually left talent management to manage a business affairs where she drafted, edited and provided commentary for firm + client deals/acquisition agreements, including but not limited to, represented clients’ employment Standard Terms and Conditions, Memorandum of Agreements, Certificate of Authorships, Writer and Artist Certificates, Inducement letters, Shopping + Option Agreements, Short + Long Form Purchase Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and more. Daily, Alicia managed internal + external communications with firm represented clients, deals/acquisition partners, and major + mini-major studios (i.e., Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation, Disney/ABC/Fox, William Morris Endeavor, Endeavor Content, HBO, NBCUniversal, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Cartoon Network, Gaumont, Spin Master, Sony, etc.). In that transactional work, Alicia was always mindful of community relations + branding and she cements her counsel through a government/municipality + marketing/advertising/commercial law (including guild/union) compliance lens, given how intertwined contract law has become with compliance/codes/statutes from local, state, and federal regulations. Throughout her career, Alicia has also been active in social good/impact campaign work coupling 501-C projects with talent X digital marketing, intertwining corporate/business law, and always being innovation-forward.
Feedback from her clients have centered around that she is consistent + skilled at taking complex legal issues and translating them to layman’s terms for client understanding.
Credentials: Alongside her California Bar license and Juris Doctorate, Alicia holds a Certificate in Mediation in relation to the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act (DRPA), alongside a Certificate in Commercial Contracting plus a Certificate in (U.S Federal) Government Contracts both from Villanova University.
Today (as of Summer 2024): Alicia currently acts as Whalar’s Director of Business Affairs (Talent/Sports) and is honored to be the Director of Brand Partnerships (Influencer Advisory Committee Member) for the Organization for Social Media Safety, and resultantly only considers select/occasional non-conflict projects.
